Ingredients

Serves : 10
  • 400 grams Drumstick cut into 1 1/2 " long pieces


  • 1 /2 cup Mustard oil


  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds


  • 1 tsp fennel seeds


  • 1 tsp Asafoetida


  • 5 nos Dried red chilli


  • 1/4 cup Tamarind pulp (take 2 lemon sized tamarind and soak it with 1/4th cup of water then after 1 hour strain it)


  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder


  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt


  • For powder masala 1 tsp mustard seeds 3 tbsp jaggery


  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds


  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds

Directions

  • In a Kadai dry roast the fennel seeds, dry red chillies, fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds for 1 minute then grind it. ("Masala Powder")
  • Heat oil in a non stick pan add drumsticks pieces, stir , cover and cook on low heat for 8 minutes, keep stirring in between, then add salt , turmeric powder, mix it, then remove the drumstick pieces.
  • In the same pan add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, asafoetida, red chilli powder then add cooked drumstick pieces and mix well , then add jaggery, tamarind pulp mix well and saute for a couple of minutes .
  • Then add the Masala Powder and cook till it thickens . Cool store it in a dry glass jar .
